WestOne Logistics Selects ASP Global Services Warehouse Management System to Streamline Multi-Site Operations, Drive Efficiencies for Expansion
Largest inland, intermountain third-party logistics provider deploys SphereWMS to integrate inventory and warehouse management functions across multiple sites
Chatsworth, CA - August 7, 2009 - ASP Global Services (ASPGS) announces that WestOne Logistics has selected the SphereWMS warehouse management system to connect and manage the operations of multiple warehouse systems, track and streamline activities for multiple clients, gain flexible ad hoc reporting, and pave the way for future expansion.
SphereWMS is a warehouse management system that integrates order, inventory, warehouse, and logistics management; supports multi-client and multi-site configurations; and delivers real-time, global visibility throughout the supply chain. WestOne selected SphereWMS based on its ability to deliver fast results and enterprise-class functionality and reliability at dramatic time and cost savings.
WestOne Logistics provides integrated warehousing and transportation management services and is the primary source of third-party warehousing services and logistics for the Upper Intermountain area in Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming. The company manages a private fleet of modern straight trucks for regional delivery and trailer/tractors for long haul service; and maintains relationships with best-in-class carriers that expand the WestOne Logistics transportation services.
WestOne Logistics will implement the SphereWMS at the Yellowstone Warehouse outside of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and use the system to control the operations of three warehouses. SphereWMS will serve as an enabler for a broad spectrum of services, including receiving and distribution, freight forwarding, warehousing, logistics, shipping, transportation, and relocation. By providing real-time visibility at the inventory and warehouse level, SphereWMS will allow WestOne to better communicate and collaborate with its partners and customers while streamlining operations and reducing costs.
“We reached the point in our business where investing in a warehouse management system made sense,” explains Steven Keim, Director of Business Development at WestOne Logistics. “We were operating with Excel spreadsheets and didn’t have a system that provided enough visibility into our operations or the level of reporting needed to support our customer’s needs. The delivery of goods is key to business and one of our primary services. We work closely with our customers to reduce transit times and lower freight costs. Spreadsheets could do the job for only so long. So that we can continue providing the services our customers have come to expect, we needed a system that could grow with us and also provide additional functionality and reporting capability.”
“We researched in-house proprietary systems, SaaS-based models, and various competitive products for about a year, but nothing clicked until we met ASPGS,” explains Brent Keim, Director of Operations at WestOne. “SphereWMS was the obvious choice. The lack of capital expenditure to get up and running was important. As an on-demand solution, SphereWMS is a fully hosted, web-based service, so we didn’t have to invest in any hardware or worry about IT and maintenance.”
“Having a global view of the events that affect your operation is crucial,” states Mike Mullane, Chief Executive Officer for ASPGS. “Effectively managing the events that propel the movement of goods in a warehouse is the key to a solid operational process. SphereWMS will have a tremendous beneficial impact on WestOne’s entire organization. Now they can manage multiple warehouses under the umbrella of one system. This visibility empowers WestOne to continually improve its operational methods and processes across its entire business.”
“SphereWMS is so user-friendly and intuitive that very little training is required,” concludes Steven Keim. “The final point that sold me on ASPGS was their personnel and willingness to customize the base product to accommodate special needs in our operations. The system allows us to better utilize existing resources, standardize processes, improve accuracy, and increase efficiencies. We had expanded as far as we could, now the door is wide open to build our customer base and develop additional channels of revenue. We have the ability to pursue business from clients that require tracking, reporting, and web visibility; and have launched conversations with potential clients that otherwise would have been beyond our reach.”
SphereWMS can be up and running in a few days for an affordable one-time fee. Ongoing costs for 24X7 support, server hosting, and software licensing are less than the equivalent of one warehouse employee per month. Where needed to meet advanced business requirements, additional custom configured modules can be added to the system.
